Kelly is our oldest active member in NBFC, with 62 years as an active Fire Police.

What year did you join NBFD?: "1954" ( 71 years of service to date )

Did you hold any fire or administration positions?: Active Fire Police, bingo team member and was a past auditor for the company.

What is the most memorable emergency that you responded to?:
" NBFD was called out for a search party to help look for a one and a half year old little girl who walked away from her house.
(I remember thinking at the time, this is the same age as one of my granddaughters.) Dwight and I looked in the nearby barn and found her standing in the the cow stall. I asked if she was cold or hurt, and picked her up and took her back to her house to her family. I was so overwhelmed, I believe I cried all the way home.

Why did you join the Fire Company?: "My father was the fire company membership director, and when I turned 18 my father said, I'II pay your dues the 1st year."

What is the biggest change you have seen?: "The equipment, plus the amount of required training you have to have in today's fire service."

Kelly is usually helping with traffic control at emergency scenes with the Fire Police, keeping the scene safe for the firefighters. His wife and family have always been there to help where needed with fundraising events, such as picking chicken or ham for carnival soups.

Kelly is a life member with NBFD and he has dedicated so much time to the Company. His two sons are members, also. Andy is a retired Lieutenant from the DCFD and Sam is an active member and helps when he is available.
