When you're the oldest living member, you are asked a lot of questions about the history of the company. Harold usually has an answer. We recently asked him a few questions.
What year did you join NBFD?: "1950 - 74 years of service as of 2024." He is also a life member.
Did you hold any fire or administration positions?: "Fire Co President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Director, Asst Chief, Driver and helped on the ambulance." Plus, he was on many committees through out his years.
What is the most memorable emergency that you responded to?: "The square fire in New Bloomfield 1983."
Why did you join the Fire Company?: "My father was a member so we kind of grew up with it."
What is the biggest change you have seen?: "The amount of equipment we have now to handle all types of calls."
Harold's 74 years of dedicated service have not gone unnoticed. He continues to be very active, attends monthly meetings and along with his wife Janet, they help count every penny we receive from the carnival.
It takes someone special to stay active for 74 years, given all of the changes he has seen in the company, but he always makes an effort to see the good in these.
His dedication has made NBFC a better company!
Thanks Harold, for all you've done and continue to do. |
