Wednesday Night Training Turns Into Storm Related Calls

With storms in the forecast, training was relocated indoors and training equipment was moved to a new area within the firehouse. While members were disassembling an office cubicle and moving props, County started to dispatch Company 8 of a report of a tree on a house on West Main Street in the borough. As units responded, County also reported that a church steeple had blown from the roof at the Lutheran Church on High Street.

Crews secured utilities and safely removed necessary tree branches from the main trunk so a tarp could be placed over the damaged roof to prevent further water damage. Chief 8-1 investigated the church steeple incident and found minor damage to the main roof, which was then turned over to church members on scene.

Engine and Rescue 8 responded with a total of 27 personnel.
