July 6, 2026

Early Sunday morning, members departed the carnival grounds to return home and get some sleep before coming back at 8:00 am to complete the tear down. Some members were asleep and others had not yet slept when the fire pagers sounded.

7-5-26 @ 03:29
Company 8 was dispatched on the first alarm, along with other Perry County units, to assist Newport Fire Company with a working house fire in the borough of Newport.
Engine 8 laid 400 feet of five-inch hose from Walnut Street down the alley behind the scene and deployed a two-and-a-half-inch hose line to assist in firefighting efforts. Tanker 8 laid 200 feet of hose from a hydrant at Second Street and Walnut down to the alley, connected with Engine 8’s five-inch line, and supplied water to Engine 8. Thoughts and prayers to the family and friends.
Company 8 responded with a total of 13 personnel.

After the Newport fire, Company 8 returned to the station 8 and began cleaning equipment. Five-inch hose was repacked with help from the crew of Landisburg Engine 4, who were covering Company 8’s first-due area during the Newport call. During this cleanup, pagers sounded again. ( thanks to the crew from Engine 4 for covering, and helping with getting the Engine and Tanker 8 back in service )

7-5-26 @ 07:52
Tanker 8 and Engine 4 were dispatched to assist Millerstown Fire Company with other Perry County units with a house fire in Tuscarora Township. Tanker 8 delivered two loads of water before returning to service. Engine 4 acted as the supply engine, drafting water from a portable tank to support fire operations.
Tanker 8 responded with a total of 19 personnel.

Later that morning, members regrouped at the carnival grounds at 8:00 am to finish loading stands onto the carnival trailer, taking down tents, and cleaning up equipment. Afterward, those available returned to the fire house for lunch and ice cream, concluding the final tasks for the 2026 carnival.

7-5-26 @ 18:59
Engine 8 was dispatched to assist Millerstown Fire Company with a reported house fire in Juniata Twp. Cancelled in station.

7-5-26 @ 19:01
Tanker 8 was dispatched to Newport Borough for an automatic fire alarm. Cancelled in station.

7-5-26 @ 23:14
Rescue 8 was dispatched for a carbon monoxide alarm at a residence in Wheatfield Township. Crews used a gas meter and detected high levels of carbon monoxide due to a home generator running while the power was out in the area. The generator was shut off, and the house was ventilated. Homeowners chose to stay with friends for the night. Rescue 8 responded with 10 personnel.

As a new day begins, Rescue 8 returns available, and company members can finally return home to sleep.

Thanks to all the NBFD members for what you do.
