| Two active members of the Fire Company are being recognized for their recent award and achievements.
Austyn Mclaren began his service with NBFC as a junior firefighter in 2011. He continues to respond to emergency calls and participates in fundraising whenever possible. Austyn currently serves on the fireman’s relief board. Over the years, he has completed numerous fire and EMS training courses, and is certified as an interior firefighter at the state level with his Firefighter II. In addition to his volunteer service, Austyn is employed as a career paramedic with Penn State Health, having worked there for six years. The NBFD congratulates Austyn on receiving the Clinician of the Year 2026 award from Penn State Health.
Halie Burton joined NBFC as a junior firefighter in 2013. She has also completed many fire and EMS training courses and holds her Firefighter II and EMT certifications at the state level. Halie is active at Station 8, frequently responding to calls, supporting fundraising efforts, and contributing as a committee member for the junior firefighters and online raffle. The NBFD congratulates Halie on her dedication and achievement in earning her Firefighter II certification, making her the first female in the company to do so. She also successfully completed her vehicle technician and hazardous materials operations courses to qualify for her Firefighter II class.
